Some people have been having problems installing EnergyPlus on Macintosh computers. The latest versions of EnergyPlus are available to download from:

If you are trying to install EnergyPlus on a Mac and are getting a message like:
Or a similar message is coming up when you try to double-click on the downloaded file, you can try the following steps:
Right-click or control-click on the downloaded file and select "Open"
This should bring up another warning dialog box that you should select "Open"
The EnergyPlus installer should start, which looks like the following:
Follow all the steps in the installer, and it should create an "EnergyPlus" folder in the Applications folder by default. Within the "EnergyPlus" folder is another folder called "Preprocess" and within that is the "EP-Launch-Lite" application. Clicking on that provides a user interface to run EnergyPlus:

The IDF Editor available for Windows users is not compatible with MacOS, but any text editor like TextEdit can open an EnergyPlus IDF file. Example IDF files are in the ExampleFiles folder within the EnergyPlus folder.
If the EnergyPlus does not work by using the Right-click option described above, you can allow it under "Privacy and Security" as described on this page:
